The Blood of the Lamb! Part 4
‘They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.’ They overcame him because they didn’t love their lives! With what will satan threaten you if you don’t love your life? Jesus said ‘Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.’ (Matt. 10:28). If I’m not afraid of my life, with what will satan threaten me? They loved Him more than their lives! They loved the Lamb more than themselves. That’s why they were able to die for the Lamb. Satan couldn’t tempt, threaten nor frighten them. If satan was not able to do these, he will hit you with a problem. You say ‘can these happen?’ observe your life. He hits you with troubles and problems. Things happen in your life suddenly. Satan is trying to tell you that your God is not a good God. He says ‘if God was good, then why are you in all these troubles?’ Here is when you have to destroy satans plan by your testimony. They overcame him by first proclaiming the truth to themselves. God is good and will remain good come what may!
‘They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony’ Many times we think by ‘their testimony’ it means we should go and evangelize. But in reality it means to proclaim the truth! The first person who needs to hear the truth is you. When satan comes with troubles and problems for your life, don’t sit all weary, humiliated and complaining. Stand up and say ‘satan is a liar. God is always good.’ Jesus came to unveil satan’ lies.
Who is not afraid of dying for Jesus? I’m not afraid of death! Yes, I’m threatened by death, satan threatens me with death but I am not afraid of death. Every day I will say to the Lord ‘Kill the love that I have for my life’. I want to conquer in this world. With what will you threaten me satan if I don’t love my life?
‘Don’t you ever talk to anyone about the truth, I am stealing people but don’t you ever open your mouth’ says satan and ‘if you do this, I will go far from you’. This is what he also told to the disciples ‘I will not take you captive’ but the disciples said we can’t stay silent, we have to speak. We can’t stay silent, we must testify the truth. ‘They overcame him by the word of their testimonies.’ The disciples came out of that place, evangelizing more than ever. Till now, the price that they paid with their lives, for Jesus Christ, it has been thousands of years and who did overcome? The disciples. The war that I read in Revelation, John saw this war happening around 100 A.D. Now we are in 2009, the church that remains silent is the defeated church, and the church that still talks and testifies is the victorious church.
The most powerful Empire existed was the Roman Empire. The Empire that is not conquerable, no one could stand before its army and they were ruling the world. This empire frightened the world. This Empire did the impossible to silence the disciples but it ended up to the entire Empire kneeling down to the name of Jesus Christ! The most powerful Empire subdued the Lamb, do you know why? Because back then there were people, there was a church that was not afraid of death but on the contrary, they were dying for the Lamb. Therefore, they overcame! The story ended, not by the disciples defeated but satan was defeated. And day after day, we’re in 2009 and we still are living as the privileges of the first church. The people of the first church were aware of the blood and aware of the Lamb. People who were fighting with the blood, people who were not silent but they were raising their voices and testifying and overcoming!
In your life, maybe you’re not being threatened, but there are people in the Arab world who are subdued to threats if they open their mouth. The satan threatens! Here, we are living the temptations, the internet and the TV. We do watch things, and enjoy them and tell to ourselves ‘no, we are not sinning’. But who that loves his life more than me, does not deserve me.
I know this may seem hard, but this is how we can be victorious. Yes, the spiritual realms are for real; satan is real but my God is also real! My faith is that my God has supernatural plans for my life; my faith is that he has promised me to have an abundant life. My faith is that satan exists and I want to overcome him, I live to overcome him and I will overcome him. I live with these three things, that there is no greater weapon than that of the blood of the Lamb. Then our word of testimony and the last point is the hatred for life to live just for Jesus Christ.
